Rather than simply observing the night sky, you’ll uncover the science behind what you’re seeing. From how stars are born within vast clouds of gas, to how they evolve, exhaust their fuel, and ultimately die. We explore the structure of nebulae, the composition of deep-sky objects, and the physical processes that shape the universe.

A highlight of the evening is a live O-III filter demonstration. You’ll see firsthand how this specialised filter isolates specific wavelengths of light and by comparing filtered and unfiltered views through the telescope, you’ll witness how astronomers enhance contrast and reveal hidden structural detail - a practical demonstration of real observational astrophysics techniques.

You’ll also use our advanced imaging equipment to choose a deep-sky object to photograph during the experience. While we continue observing through the 18" telescope, your selected target will be captured and processed into a high-quality take-home print — a scientific keepsake of your night under the stars.

Your guide will also photograph you beneath the night sky (weather permitting). Within 24 hours, your images will be uploaded to a private Google Drive folder, ready for you to download and share with friends and family.
