Private Taxi from Lake from anywhere within the Lake Tekapo township to the Mt John Observatory, including 40 minutes waiting time on top of mt.john.


There is $14 toll fees charged PER CAR heading up to Mt.john that we need to pay at kiosk gate.

Guest will need to pay the toll fees by themselves with CREDIT CARD only.


Office hours is from 9.00am to 5.00pm. Any requests outside those hours may have some delays in replying to your requests.

Please note that this service is available on request and is subject to last minute cancelation due to road access and weather conditions. As Mt John is private property we are only able to operate this service when the access road is open. Please contact the Dark Sky Project for up to date road conditions. 

Mt. John Taxis Journey $100 for 1 - 3 pax including 40 minutes waiting time. Extra hours $50 for 1 Hour.
Extra person $30 per person.
